1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a proud wife and momma of a son and daughter. I became a stay at home mom about two years ago after my daughter was born. When I am not spending time with my family you will most likely will find me in a fabric store. I would rather shop for fabric than shoes! My friends must think I am crazy!

I come from a long line of women who love to sew. My great grandmother’s quilts are still treasured to this day. My mother made all of my dance costumes when I was a child. I feel so fortunate to have been taught the skill of sewing. Who would have ever thought it would become a lost art form? Now that I am an adult, I have come to realize that my most prized possessions are handmade items that were made for me or that were passed down to me. I hope that one day my children feel the same way about the items I make for them. I feel an enormous amount of pride that I can make something for someone that has not come from a store. A gift, I know was quality made and will last a lifetime.

2. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself? For someone else?
I made a double wedding ring quilt for my sister and brother-in-law for their wedding. Quilting is special to me because it has been passed down from generation to generation in my family. I find quilting soothing and can not think of a better cozy pastime on cold winter nights.

3. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
My favorite holiday is 4th of July. I am obsessed with anything red, white and blue for the summer. Making my children sailor themed outfits is a favorite yearly project of mine.

4. Any other interests or hobbies?
I dabble in photography. I also enjoy running and exercising in general.

5. Do you have a favorite quote?
“Do you know whatcha gotta do, when life gets you down? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.” – Dory, Finding Nemo

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m an Analyst Programmer by career, crafter, designer, wife, mother and passionate about sewing! I have been crafting as long as I can remember. As a child, I spent a lot of time designing, painting, and making all crafts in general. I grew up watching my mother sew, as a teenager, I would design dresses and she would create them. But it was when my daughter was born, in 2008 that I learned to sew and started to design clothing for kids. I’ve been loving every moment of this journey, it was a great joy to discover what I really wanted to do with my life!

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
Dresses, specially vintage style dresses.

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself? For someone else?
I don’t sew much for myself, but my favorite project is the vintage inspired Juliette’s dress for girls from 2 to 10 years.

4. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
Definitely Christmas! I love the colors, the lights and the joy of getting ready for the Christmas holidays.

5. What DIY tips or tricks would you like to share with customers?
This is not a tip but an advice. Whenever you are afraid of certain sewing notions, such as buttonholes, zippers, etc, do not avoid projects that require those notions, take the challenge and try it over and over again until you nailed it, if someone else can do it, you can do it too!

6. Any other interests or hobbies?
Crafts in general. I enjoy making cards, hair clips, painting. And I love doing party decorations, I actually design for my own brand of printable party supplies www.printyourfiesta.com.

7. Do you have a favorite quote?
You can do anything is you really want to.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello! My name is Maggie. I’m the creator of Maggie Elizabeth Designs. I love to be creative and construct a product out of an idea and then inspire others to do the same.  I enjoy sewing and using that topic to be creative in. I appreciate all things artsy-craftsy and I also enjoy positive music, family date nights, baking, organizing, and home decorating. The reason behind creating my company was to encourage others to work with their hands and enjoy the rewarding benefits of learning a creative skill such as sewing. Most of my patterns are made from an idea and wanting a product that couldn’t be easily found…or affordable!  I enjoy the challenge of making pieces come together to make a great product.

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
Bags, accessories, and stuffed animals!

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself?
My very own Chelsea Backpack pattern! My absolute favorite bag to carry!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
We are Shannon and Tiffany and we are the force behind Create Kids Couture! We met in 2008 and discovered we both had a love for sewing! We quickly bonded while teaching ourselves how to make clothes and accessories for our daughters. At that time we realized that while there were plenty of beautiful patterns out there, the niche for “over-the-top” children’s boutique patterns was lacking however we didn’t have the skills required to make patterns. We both opened up boutiques and remained friends continuing to work together occasionally and share new techniques we learned always! After years of requests from fans, we finally decided to share our unique, one-of-a-kind designs with everyone by forming Create Kids Couture in July 2011. When we opened we had just 5 patterns and after really discovering our love for designing we quickly grew to have over 90 patterns in our first year. Today we have over 180 PDF patterns and 11 paper patterns in our collection. We’ve grown to include not only children’s patterns, but also, doll, tweens, and women’s sizes as well!

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
We love to design girls clothes! We started sewing because we wanted the cute boutique clothes, but as stay at home moms we couldn’t actually afford them! I think clothes for our girls–no matter what size they grow into–will always be our favorite!

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself? For someone else?
We don’t sew for ourselves too much! We’re too busy sewing for our children and our business. Every new thing we design ends up being our favorite piece, only to be outdone by our newest design! LOL!

4. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
Definitely Christmas! We love the magic of Christmas and teaching our children that giving is more important than receiving. Santa is in all of us!

5. What DIY tips or tricks would you like to share with customers?
Oh goodness! Our tip would be that you can make ANYTHING! We are both self-taught seamstresses and the number one thing we’ve learned is with all the videos and patterns available to you on the internet there is no reason you can’t use these tools to your advantage to learn to make whatever your heart desires!

6. What other interests or hobbies do you have?
We take all of our own product shots, so we really enjoy photography!

Jenn & John of CopyCrafts

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
We met and got married in college – that’s a story for another time. We have one son who is the center of our universe. In our “other lives” Jennifer teaches piano, and John is a high school math teacher – we guess teaching (through patterns or classes) is something we just can’t get away from!

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
Children’s toys are so much fun to design! There is so much freedom, and the possibilities really are endless. We have more ideas for projects than we will ever have time to design – the hard part is always choosing which one to take on next.

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself? For someone else?
For our son’s first birthday we wanted to make him a quiet book. We looked around, but couldn’t find anything quite right – something with activities and moving parts that a one-year-old would be interested in. We set to work designing one called “Buggy for You,” and CopyCrafts was born. That quiet book is still one of our favorite projects.

4. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
All of them! It’s fun to celebrate and enjoy whatever season we’re currently in.

5. What DIY tips or tricks would you like to share with customers?
That’s a tough one, because there are so many. In general we would say to anyone thinking of taking on a new project or skill – be brave! Just go for it believing that it will turn out great. We have a lot of friends who come to us nervous to start something new, afraid something will go wrong and their project will be ruined. In our experience, something will go wrong – the finished project is rarely exactly like the picture in your head – but if you’re committed and creative you’ll come up with some way to make it work and you’ll love the end result even if it isn’t the perfect vision you had in your head.

6. Any other interests or hobbies?
We love family time! We love to read books together, watch movies, go on walks, travel, and just be together.

7: Do you have a favorite quote?
“The only true gift is a portion of thyself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a Mom of 3 busy kids but in my spare time I love to craft with my Twin sister Crista. We started Twin Stitchers together but I run it by myself now. Crista is still my biggest supporter though. I LOVE to design!!! It is really fun to see a project come together. I have lived in Utah all my life and like most Utahn’s I love anything that is DIY! So it’s AWESOME to see other crafters using TS’s patterns.

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
My favorite projects to design are quilt blocks stitchery patterns. In the last year I started a monthly block line. It was completed this month and it was really fun to have a pattern goal every month.

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself? For someone else?
I love my “Our House” pillow of my family. It was really fun to personalize it with my kids, hubby, and even pets.

4. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
I LOVE Halloween! I love Autumn and Fall colors. Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday to decorate for!

5. What DIY tips or tricks would you like to share with customers?
I love to color my stitcheries once they are done. It just adds that perfect finishing touch. I include a brief tutorial in every pattern.

6. Any other interests or hobbies?
I love ALL crafts! I enjoy digital scrapbooking and I LOVE to decorate my house. I don’t know if this counts as a hobby but I spend WAY to much time on Pinterest (ha ha). I also love camping with my family, and spending time with my girl friends. I also really love to read. I have passed that love onto my children.

9. Do you have a favorite quote?
My favorite quote is “It is our choices…that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” -Dumbledore (HUGE Harry Potter fan!)

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I live with my super wonderful and supportive husband along the shores of Lake Michigan. I have 2 grown children, one grandchild, a cute little yorkie and a black cat. I’ve been crafting ever since my grandmother introduced me to it when I was about five. I then started gathering my mom’s scrap fabrics and I haven’t stopped since.

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
I love to work with fabrics. I love to make small quilted projects, tote bags, and anything that will perk up a room.

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself?
For someone else?

When my kids were little (well over 20 years ago), I designed them each a quilted advent calendar. Now that they have homes of their own, they hang on their wall. I no longer have one, so I think I might have to design one for my house!

4. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
Christmas! Love, love, love Christmas! Halloween, Easter, and Valentine’s Day are fun too.

5. What DIY tips or tricks would you like to share with customers?
Experiment with color and embellishments. I design patterns but it’s up to everyone else to bring them to life! Also, this is something I’ve been doing myself, try a new technique or supply on a regular basis. I’ve found so many new and favorite products, as well as learned some fun new skills.

6. Any other interests or hobbies?
I love traveling with my husband, spending time with my family, and my pets. Hubby and I love to hike trails. Whenever we go someplace, the first thing we look for are nearby hiking trails. We also have some great trails here at the Indiana Dunes State Park. I also love my camera. I take it everywhere and have so much fun with digital scrapbooking. I also design digital scrapbooking products!

7. Do you have a favorite quote?
“If you spend your time thinking about the things you don’t have, you will miss the blessings that you already have.” Author Unknown

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’ve been sewing for many years, encouraged by many wonderful women in my life, especially my grandma, who was a great seamstress for her family. As busy as life gets, I just can’t NOT sew. I started my little sewing “business” called eamylove, to share my handmade accessories, original patterns and custom works. The name is taken from my maiden name. I added an “e” to Amy Love for my first “e”-mail address.

2. What are your favorite projects to design?
I really love making new pillows and pincushions. Both of these projects can be made to fit a variety of moods. They can be plain or fancy, modern or traditional. Translation: I can’t decide what my style is!

3. What is your favorite thing you have made for yourself? For someone else?
My Signature Style pillow, is my most favorite thing that I made just for ME! I tried to put together a pillow with all of my favorite colors, fabrics, and styles, and I loved the result. For my sister I created a camera bag that I thought was very beautiful, with lots of great details. It was one-of-a-kind, just made for a unique and lovely person.

4. What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
Christmas is my most loved holiday. This year I finally admitted to myself that I almost never sew in the month of December, so all year long, I’ve been creating Christmas-y items. This year, I didn’t stress about making sweet new holiday projects…they were done already!

5. Any other interests or hobbies?
I love baseball and music, and I’ve been thankful to see our boys participate in both of these interests.

6. Do you have a favorite quote?
“Millions long for immortality but don’t know what to do on a rainy afternoon.”
